How to show and write Provable.io

The name, logo files, colours, type and voice. If you write about us, link to us or build on the API, this is how we'd like it done.

Name

  • Provable.io, with a capital P and the .io, in running text and headlines.
  • Not "Provable" on its own. The bare word also names an unrelated oracle company and a branch of cryptography, and search engines mix them up.
  • provable.io, lowercase, only when you mean the address.
  • The capitals in the logo belong to the logo. They are not the spelling.

The die and the wordmark. White on dark is the default.

Provable.io die mark
The die alone: avatars and small spaces. PNG
  • Clear space: half the logo's height on every side.
  • Smallest size: 28px tall for the full logo. Below that, use the die alone, down to 16px.
  • On white, use the black version. On a photo, put the white version on a solid dark plate.
  • Don't recolour it (no lime logo), stretch it, add a glow or shadow, or set the name in another font.

Colour

Near-black and warm greys do the work. Lime points at the one thing to do.

Lime#E6FF57The only accent. Primary button, links, focus, our own figure in a comparison.
Lime ink#101410Text on lime. 16.6:1.
Canvas#090C0CPage background.
Surface#111515Frames, cards, code.
Text strong#F4F0E8Headlines and values.
Text#DEDAD2Body text in frames and code.
Text dim#AAA69EParagraphs, table cells.
Text faint#858981Labels, eyebrows, timestamps.
Success#54D98CVerified, always with a word.
Error#FF6969Errors, always with a word.
  • Lime is the only saturated colour. It never fills a heading, an icon or a section background.
  • Depth comes from borders and one-step lighter surfaces. No glows, gradients or drop shadows on content.
  • Every text colour above passes WCAG AA on both the canvas and the surface.

Type

  • Inter for headlines and body. Headlines are weight 650, sentence case, tightly tracked, and end in a period when they make a statement.
  • JetBrains Mono for code, hashes, seeds, labels and every number inside a table or frame.
  • Buttons: Inter 600, uppercase, slightly tracked.
  • Never all-caps headlines, title weights above 650, or a third typeface.

Writing about proofs

  • Spell fields the way the API does, in code: serverSeed, serverHash, clientSeed, nonce.
  • "provably fair" is lowercase mid-sentence, with no hyphen.
  • Every example is real. A hash you show should verify and a result should replay.
  • Say what a proof proves: the draw was fixed before the client seed existed and wasn't changed after. It says nothing about odds or house edge.

Voice

  • Plain words, short sentences. Say what happened, then how to check it.
  • Show, don't claim. A hash, a replay or a link beats an adjective.
  • Never: best, #1, unhackable, military-grade, guaranteed, 100% fair, exclamation marks or emoji.
  • The #1 most secure random platform! Every draw leaves a receipt: a hash before, the seed after, and a replay anyone can run.
  • 100% guaranteed fair results. Check any result yourself: sha256(serverSeed) must equal the serverHash published first.
  • Military-grade encryption. HMAC-SHA256, keyed by a server seed we commit to before you send yours.

Describing Provable.io

One line: Random numbers anyone can verify.

Short: Provable.io is a free API for random numbers anyone can verify. Every draw is committed before it happens and can be replayed after, and the generator, provable-core, is open source under the MIT license. Provable.io is built and run by RedPkt.
